Today We've Got Rebel Black checking in from Movement TV, breaking down what Hip Hop Rights is. Check out New Episodes of Movement TV 24/7 with host Rebel Black
Hip hop rights! A lot of people ask me what that means. It means that if hip hop had a constitution then we would have certain undeniable rights. We have the right to be heard and to be seen. We have the right to profit, prosper and grow from our culture. We are hip hop and we have the right and responsibility to teach the youth that looks up to the artists, djs, and radio personalities in our culture. We have the right to be real. Honesty is something that hip hop has lost. Morality is dead, where is the compassion that is needed. We have to realize that we have to take care of each other. Hip hop is almost forty years old but its worth over 40 billion dollars. Who is making this money? Where is the respect for the culture and kids that idolize us “industry’ heads. Hip hop rights are undeniable. Hip hop is undeniable. 30 years ago people said that hip hop was a fad but look at us now. Yet with Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, Remy Ma and T.I. and more artists locked up or facing incarceration who are going to be the leaders in this culture? Underground becomes main-stream but how do we look out for the independent artists. Hip hop rights are here for us and hip hop rights are not going anywhere. It’s a new movement and it’s a start of a new era. Corporate hip hop prepare to be buried. We have the right to eat!
ALL HIP HOP HAS THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD
